Overview

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Phytophthora citricola is a plant pathogen. It was first described by Sawada in 1927 when it was isolated from orange trees in present-day Taiwan. It has since been found causing disease on a wide variety of plants and is considered to be cosmopolitan. Phytophthora (from Greek phyton, plant and phthora, destruction ; the plant-destroyer ) is a genus of plant-damaging Oomycetes (water molds), whose member species are capable of causing enormous economic losses on crops worldwide, as well as environmental damage in natural ecosystems.
