Reviews

We are witnessing a moment of revolution when it comes to how we think about and address inequality. This timely book documents how social impact leaders are challenging institutional norms and developing new approaches that acknowledge all people's capacity to solve the human problems we face as a civilization. - Professor Muhammad Yunus, 2006 Nobel Peace Laureate and Founder at Grameen Bank An excellent compilation of diverse and insightful perspectives from top leaders in the field on how to magnify our social impact. This book will be valuable to anyone who seeks to move beyond bandaids to drive lasting systemic change. - Ann Mei Chang, former Chief Innovation Officer at USAID and author of Lean Impact The problems of today and tomorrow demand collective action and creative solutions. The first step in developing the necessary culture of community-based problem-solving is to convene diverse leaders from industry and academia whose imagination and experience help us see with new, more inclusive eyes. The Perspectives book series, and especially the volumes on Impact and Purpose, does just that by amplifying the voices of underrepresented thought innovators whose perspective is vital to the future success, stability, and security of our society. - Dan Porterfield, President and CEO at the Aspen Institute The humanitarian, environmental, and social challenges we face today cut across the boundaries of traditional organizations. No one organization, or even sector, can solve these challenges alone. From Sesame Workshop's work with refugees in Syria to Women's March Global's advancement of equality around the world, this book's diverse case studies show how cross-sectoral leaders are thinking more systemically and working more collaboratively to create a more open, just, and habitable world. - Jeremy Heimans, Co-Founder and CEO at Purpose and author of New Power At a time when the world is creating endless societal challenges, Perspectives on Impact provides critical real world context on how a number of leaders and their organizations have accelerated systems change and created lasting impact. With clear examples and lessons learned, it is a timely compendium of the 'road maps' others have taken to make a difference in the world. - Jim Bildner, CEO at Draper, Richards, Kaplan Foundation We are all born systems thinkers, but many of us have had this way of seeing trained out of us during the course of our educational and professional lives. Thank goodness books like Perspectives on Impact are successfully reintroducing a systems orientation - the most viable path for mankind in collectively overcoming today's most daunting social and environmental problems. - John Kania, Managing Director at FSG, Executive in Residence at New Profit, and co-author of recent Stanford Social Innovation Review articles: Collective Impact and The Dawn of System Leadership We live in a time when the smartest investments we can make are in saving nature and in building our human capacities to act together. Perspectives on Impact synthesizes critical lessons on how to change systems for the better, and shares case studies that break new ground. The chapters in this collection each illustrate important aspects of how we can preserve our heritage and shape our future. - Mark Tercek, CEO at The Nature Conservatory
