Overview

"Perspectives, edited by Dr. Victor C. Alfonso, with Dr. Florence Rubinson as guest editor for this issue, is a psychological and educational journal that focuses on publishing original contributions from a broad range of psychological and educational perspectives relevant to infants, young children (up to 8 years old), families, and caregivers. Along with articles incorporating evidence-based research, theory, and practice within clinical, community, developmental, neurological, and school psychology perspectives, PECPE also publishes book, literature, and test reviews, program descriptions, and other materials of interest to psychologists and professionals who work with and educate young children and their caregivers. This issue, which is the first general issue of PECPE, touches on gender nonconformity and identity, paternal impact on child development and skill acquisition, and how children adapt to kindergarten, according to kindergarten teachers. Articles include ""Gender Nonconformity and Gender Identity: Resources for Early Childhood Educators"" by Amy E. Tiberi and Tammy L. Hughes and ""Old Roads, New Paths: Men's Childhood Relationships with Their Fathers and Their Current Parenting"" by Karen E. McFadden, Jacqueline D. Shannon, and Catherine Tamis-LeMonda."

Author Information

Vincent C. Alfonso, Ph.D., is the dean of the School of Education at Gonzaga University. He is past president of Division 16 (School Psychology) of the American Psychological Association (APA), fellow of Divisions 5, 16, and 43 of the APA, and a certified school psychologist and licensed psychologist. Most recently, Dr. Alfonso received the Jack Bardon Distinguished Service Award from Division 16. He has been providing psychoeducational services to individuals across the life span for more than 25 years and is the coeditor of Essentials of Specific Learning Disability Identification, 2nd edition, and coauthor of Essentials of Cross-Battery Assessment, 3rd edition.
