Born in Sydney, Australia in 1903 and as the first woman to graduate with a science degree from Sydney University, Dr Claire Weekes worked in research before retraining some years later to become a physician and diagnostician.Many people who struggled with anxiety and panic came to her busy medical practice in Macquarie Street, Sydney. Claire understood what they were going through, as she, in her youth had dealt with her own anxiety issues due to illness. With her personal experience and medical training combined, Claire was able to clearly and compassionately explain to her patients what was happening to their mind and body while in the throes of panic.
