It provides the psychological basis for understanding the difference between what the social commentator Thomas Sowell has referred to as two visions for America's future, one unconstrained and expressed in Progressive ideology, the other constrained, and expressed in conservative ideas. The book explains how feminism, identity politics, and social media, have all contributed to fostering the current obsessional politically correct society that risks avoiding existential threats to American society.

Richard Kradin, MD is Harvard physician who practices medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital and has advanced degrees in psychoanalysis and religion. He has authored several books on mental health topics and is the recipient of Gradiva Prize awarded from the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis in 1997 for the best paper in psychoanalysis.
