Overview

Become a Disciple of Jesus to Make Disciples How fruitful are you in evangelism? Throughout history, Christians have forgotten that evangelism, missions, and discipleship occur through relationships. Instead, we have treated them more like business transactions that, since they do not bear us much fruit, we set aside and leave behind as mere historical memories. However, Jesus called us to make disciples. Let us attract others to Jesus by the way we live and love. In this book, you will learn: - How Jesus made disciples, modeling His command for us to do the same - How the gospel may have been distorted over history, leading to the way we do church today, requiring us to renew our minds - How to be a disciple of Jesus who makes other disciples by meeting the lost where they are Join the movement of making disciples through life-on-life relationships at https: //www.prayertents.com

Our Highest Calling takes a unique perspective on the duty of Christians and their experience in evangelism. What I found especially appealing about this book: The call to action isn't hard to fit into everyday life. It doesn't condemn or scold Christians who are less willing to enter every workspace, friend group, or gathering and start preaching; instead, this book takes a more data-driven, empathetic, and brass tacks look at what it means to draw more people to Christ. It starts by evaluating the current status of most churches or Christian gatherings around the world. What have the congregations and the preachers decided to do with their Sundays? What are the outreach programs - and are they enough? Is that truly fulfilling the Great Commission, or have we watered down what that really means? This book goes step-by-step to lay out the details, meaning, and an actionable way forward from the Great Commission. I've read books, attended sermons, and even been a part of classes that were meant to teach me how to spread the Good News - but all of those lacked what I like to call the human experience. No one likes a pushy salesman, and I enjoyed how this book acknowledged that. Some of the best work can be done by making relationships and allowing yourself to be an example. As the book continues, it gives some history on how the Great Commission has been demonstrated throughout the centuries (and the millennia) with good and bad examples. How has the understanding of it changed between our times and the times of Christ? How has that affected the way we do things in the modern world? It was a fun history lesson and insightful on the main point the book made - that we've lost our real punch in spreading the Good News. Our Highest Calling then becomes an actionable guidebook for making disciples and spreading the Word. It breaks down the concept of discipleship in everyday practice, looking to examples from the Bible and giving modern-day cases where the average person can do it. I especially loved how the book ended by providing practical advice and insight on how I, the reader, can better myself to exemplify and achieve the Great Commission. The book doesn't give you a few marketing strategies and then send you out blind. The author takes the time to develop the readers to understand the proper mindset of making disciples before they go out to represent Christ. This book is a valuable lesson in how to evangelize without all the pomp and fanfare, without the unattainable goals, and without losing your personality. It has empathy, logic, and genuine insight. Definitely worth a read! Shannon Lorraine, Editor for November Ink
