OverviewAlafia! This children's book, Egbe Olukumi was created to educate the history of the Olukumi tradition. The word Olukumi means my friends and they originated from the lands of Egbado (Yewa State), Nigeria. The Olukumi people had to encounter many different obstacles in their life. These events that I am sharing are passed down from elders and also recorded in books. I created a fictional character named Ade, who is an African gray parrot, to help with the interaction and make this book fun for the children. In my other books, I do explain about the origin of the Orishas and the many different Orishas but now I have a chance to explain the origin of the Olukumi people and their tradition. Thank you, O dabo!
