Wood's Index to this volume, and to draw up the Contents, adding a List of the Tales illustrated by analogs, variants, &c. This was necessary, because the latter were printed as they came to hand. I never thought of waiting to get everything available for any Tale before anything about it was put forth. I still hope to arrange with Mr. Hy.
