Sri Harmandir Sahib, also known as Sri Darbar Sahib and the Golden Temple, is the world's most sacred and most recognized Gurdwara (Sikh place of worship). From 1588 to 1601, its construction was overseen by the fifth Guru (enlightened teacher of the Sikhs), Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, in the holy city of Amritsar (which was founded by the fourth Guru, Sri Guru Ram Das Ji) in Punjab, India. Today, the Golden Temple is one of the most visited places on Earth, welcoming millions of people annually from all walks of life. Harman Singh Pandher is the author of four children's books: Once Upon the Golden Temple, Welcome to Paldi, Gurpreet Goes to Gurdwara, and Sugar, Steel and the Maple Leaf. Harman is an elementary school teacher with a passion for sports, the arts, breaking barriers, and building community. He lives in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, with his family.Japneet Kaur Bal graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kwantlen Polytechnic University and earned a diploma in Art Therapy from Vancouver Art Therapy Institute. Japneet took an interest in art from a young age and was taught oil painting for 9 years, which encouraged her to further pursue fine arts. She lives in Surrey, British Columbia, with her family.
