Overview

This text examines the non-CO2 greenhouse gases (NCGGs), notably methane, nitrous oxide, CFCs, HCFCs and HFCs and tropospheric ozone and its precursors. It covers all aspects of these components in global warming and discusses possible remedies. It also contains the Conference Statement, which summarizes our present knowledge. The book includes studies directed towards sources and sinks of NCGGs, atmospheric measurements and documents the OECD/IPCC methodology for emission inventories and some applications. Studies on the modelling of global budgets reflect our present understanding of the atmosphere. The helpful reports on methods to curb the emissions of the NCGGs, as well as on policy approaches to their support, including those of the European Union, the Netherlands, and the UN Food and Agricultural Organization, should make this book a valuable resource text for scientists, engineers, consultants, policy-makers and politicians involved in the interdisciplinary problems of global warming. Both an author register and keyword register are included.
