Overview

No Thanks, but I'd Love to Dance encourages young children to make a healthy choice and not smoke. This bright and whimsically illustrated book chronicles the life of Belle, who at six years old, was 'best friends forever' with her Grandma Bee, who could no longer do the one thing they both liked best - to dance. Grandma Bee tells Belle how, when she was a young girl, a boy had offered her a cigarette at a school dance. She had said yes and become addicted, eventually leaving her lungs unable to cope with the rigors of dancing. Belle was saddened by this story and told Grandma Bee, 'What you should have said was, 'No thanks, but I'd love to dance . Grandma Bee agreed that she had made a bad mistake and encouraged Belle never to smoke. So through the years, as Belle went through high school, college, and the many jobs and life experiences that followed, whenever anyone offered her a cigarette, she would think back to her Grandma Bee and reply, 'No thanks, but I'd love to dance'. And dance she did.
