OverviewIn the spring of 2022, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts will present the first exhibition in Canada devoted to the Swiss artist Nicolas Party, whose unique visual language both challenges and celebrates the conventions of pictorial representation. Entitled Mauve Twilight, after a painting by Canadian artist Ozias Leduc in the Museum's collection, this exhibition will bring together over 20 pastels and sculptures specifically chosen by the artist, as well as various pastels, prints, watercolours and textiles he will have created for the Museum. The exhibition will also include masterworks from the Museum's richly diverse collection incorporated into an immersive series of murals painted on site by the artist in the Museum's most historic galleries. A richly illustrated bilingual catalogue (English and French) will accompany the exhibition. A record of this unique experience imagined for the Museum, it will include a fictional text authored by a Quebec writer drawing inspiration from Party's works and numerous photographs capturing the artist's creative process and his large murals created in situ for the exhibition. Text in English and French. 200 colour illustrations Full Product DetailsAuthor: Nicolas Party , Stéphane AquinPublisher: Five Continents Editions Imprint: Five Continents Editions Weight: 1.202kg ISBN: 9788874399963ISBN 10: 8874399960 Pages: 224 Publication Date: 13 June 2022 Audience: General/trade , General Format: Paperback Publisher's Status: Active Availability: In Print This item will be ordered in for you from one of our suppliers. His artistic practice stems from his passion for graffiti, pursued from an early age and refined over a decade. Party’s work is not confined to painting. In fact, his creative universe – mainly featuring still lifes and portraits – is also declined through other media, such as murals, installations, ceramic pieces, and sculptures. The latter are often references to ancient Greek and Roman fragments. His work has been the subject of collective and solo exhibitions held in important international venues such as the Musée Magritte (Brussels, 2018), the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Washington DC, 2017), the Dallas Museum of Art (2016), the Centre Culturel Suisse (Paris, 2015), and the Swiss Institute (New York, 2012).
