Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationSince 1974, Dr. Gilmore has held a joint appointment with the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse and the University of Wisconsin-Extension.' He is Professor and Director of Graduate Community Health/Public Health'Programs.' His prior experiences have been in public health and preventive medicine at the Bergen County Health Department (N.J.), and at the Preventive Medicine Unit, General Leonard Wood Hospital, U.S. Army (recipient of the Army Commendation Medal in Preventive Medicine).' His training in epidemiology and public health education is through the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota, with additional training in epidemiology at the New England Epidemiology Institute, Tufts University.' He is the founding and continuing Director of the first Master of Public Health Program (CEPH accredited) offered in the University of Wisconsin System.' As an inherent part of his appointment, he also directs the Community Health Programming Unit in Continuing Education and Extension (University of Wisconsin-Extension).' He has served on the American Cancer Society National Board of Directors during 1986-1996, and 1999-2002, and is the recipient of that organization’s St. George Medal for “outstanding contributions to the control of cancer.”' Dr. Gilmore received the 2001 Regents Teaching Excellence Award bestowed by the Board of Regents, University of Wisconsin System.'
