Naat is the food of our life and soul. The tradition of naat consists of darood and salutations. Now-a-days carelessness and exaggeration are common in naat, every poet big and small is writing naat and most of the naats crosses the limitations set by sharia and poetry. In Naatiya Urdu poetry, the poets continued to arrange all kinds of subjects without any hesitation and in the collection of Naat, a pile of untrustworthy and fictional stories and incidents continued to accumulate. Perhaps one of the main reasons for this is that the source of most of the orator poets were sermons based on traditions and virtues, which had the status of the last word in that era. This book examines such false traditions included in Naat. / نعت ہماری روح کی غذا ہے، نعت ہی سے زندگی عبارت ہے۔ نعت کی روایت درود و سلام سے عبارت ہے۔ آج کل نعت میں بے احتیاطی اور غلو عام ہے، ہر چھوٹا بڑا شاعر نعت کہہ رہا ہے۔ اکثر نعتیں شرعی و شعری گرفت میں آتی ہیں۔ نعتیہ اردو شاعری میں شعرا بلا تردّد ہر قسم کے مضامین کو منظوم کرتے رہے اور ذخیرۂ نعت میں غیر ثقہ اور وضعی حکایات و واقعات کا انبار جمع ہوتا رہا۔ شاید اس کا ایک بنیادی سبب یہ بھی ہو کہ اکثر نعت گو شعرا کا ماخذ سینہ بہ سینہ چلی آ رہیں روایات اور فضائل پر مبنی ایسے وعظ تھے جنھیں اس زمانے میں حرفِ آخر کا درجہ حاصل تھا۔ اس کتاب میں نعت اور نعت گوئی کی روایات کا جائزہ لیا گیا ہے۔
