Overview

Samatha woke up one morning to discover that a virus was making people sick all over the world, and that her school had to close for a while. At first staying home was fun, but after a while she got bored and lonely. Samantha's experience was felt by children all over the world. Coping with her anxiety by writing in a journal, talking to her friend on Skype, learning a new skill were all ways to make her feel better. Readers will learn all about the pandemic and lockdown, about the coronavirus called covid 19, how to stay safe, and relate to the emotional side of it. The author hopes that it provides a springboard for further discussions between parents, teachers and children on their experiences and feelings.

Author Information

Ella Dembeck was born in Germany and moved to Canada in 1978. She has been a teacher for over 15 years. This is her first book as an author and she hopes to write another book soon. The pandemic has been hard on everyone, especially on children. She wrote this story in the middle of the first lockdown, because she could emphasize with the pain and confusion children all over the world were feeling. She is hoping that this book provides a springboard for discussions between parents, teachers and children, about emotions they experienced and how they coped. Ella has two grown children, Tamo 29 yrs old and Neona 17 yrs old.
