OverviewThis is a tell-all book about the time Philip van Heusen spent in prison. He shares the reason he ended up incarcerated. He also shares about the food, medical care, dangers, and just life in prison. He explains the horrors of prison life and also shares the good things that can happen in prison. Your eyes will be opened to what life in prison is really like from one who has been there, done that, and did not even get the tee-shirt. Philip was wrongfully convicted after a false accusation. He explains it all in this book. During all his time in prison, he ministered to the other inmates. He tried his best to cheer them up and encourage them to keep on keeping on. He knew that his heavenly Father sent him to prison for a reason. He found many reasons. The worst part of prison life was the separation from his wife and children. If he had been able to be with them, prison would not have been so hard. Philip's lawyer said that he was being persecuted for his stand on godly living. The county's sheriff told him that he was in prison wrongly. He said the whole case was wrong. Read how an innocent man spent two years in prison. To be sure, Philip sinned and had done wrong, but he was not guilty of what he was accused of. Even the DA said the what they had evidence for was not illegal. ADVANCED REVIEW: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author spoke of his personal experience with making a mistake and owning up to it. He also talks about how there was some things misconstrued that landed him in more trouble than he expected. The author, with four Master's degrees and working as a therapist goes to show that anyone can make a simple mistake that can change his/her life forever. The book told about the people around him and how they changed toward him. It took you through his life in prison and all of the ways the inmates were treated. It told about the bad and the ugly of prison life . My eyes were open to some of the flaws that today's prison system have and some insight on changes that could be made to help people be more productive through discipline rather than punishment. I give five stars. It really makes you think differently about those in prison.
