OverviewPlease note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Mount Carmel High School, Ahmedabad, India, is one of the oldest convent schools in Gujarat, India. Mount Carmel was founded in Ahmedabad on the 18th January, 1923, under the guidance of Srs. Mercedes, Marianne and Angelica. The school started with four classes, totalling 20 students, in Mirzapur. In 1924 the strength of the school rose to 110. The building at Mirzapur soon proved too small. In June 1935 Mount Carmel re-opened in a large house in Shahibaug but even this proved too small to house the 700 pupils. The school moved to the Ellis Bridge area into a building owned by Mr. Bhulabhai on the banks of the River Sabarmati.
