OverviewA topic deserving of research is that of Hispanics in the U.S. This study views the similiarities and differences of morpho-syntactic erosion between two generational groups of Spanish speakers in the U.S. The focus is on spoken Spanish in high school-aged students. There are three main sections analyzing erosion: agreement, verbs, and elements (omission, additional, and misapplication). A comparison was made based on the information in Hispanic communities throughout the United States. Certain patterns of first language erosion were compared to second language acquisition.
