Author Information

Michael's martial arts history began when he was around eight years old (this was in the late 1960s). As a skinny, scrawny young boy, he started getting picked on while in the fifth grade in elementary school. His father, Joe, took this as an opportunity to be proactive and began introducing Michael to some self-defense techniques, boxing drills and a few Japanese judo movements. Joe had learned a little judo from his friend when he was a young boy back in the 1920s. Since his inception in to martial arts training he has become a motivated and positive role model in the arts and its promotions. Over his many years he has been an editor and writer for inside Kung Fu and Black belt Magazines for several years. He published his own martial arts magazine as well and since has founded and is the current curator for the Martial Arts History Museum. His influence and abilities help make him a perfect match to help to become the historian of martial arts influence in American culture.
