Here is the tale of three significant ethnic groups who settled and lived together in the Nigerian state of Kogi, whose capital is known as Lokoja. When the Europeans arrived, Lokoja became well-known around the world as the first British settlement in Nigeria and a significant inland port for European businesses. The town expanded to become a multicultural community, populated primarily by Hausa from northern Nigeria and several ethnic groups from the middle belt.
