OverviewMessy is the second book in The Bounce Back Series. It encourages children to cultivate a sense of kindness, gentleness and forgiveness for themselves, each other and the Earth we all share. It helps children to understand that their actions have consequences and that their choices will control much of their destinies. Messy seeks to create a culture in which the environment no longer needs protecting. The book features: -A beautifully illustrated story you can read and discuss together. -Fun suggestions to help children understand, appreciate and care for themselves, each other and their environment. -A resources section, with activities and exercises, that children can use to develop their self-esteem, confidence and decision making abilities. -Games designed to create as much fun, laughter and connection as possible in an increasingly disconnected world. Messy encourages children to develop an understanding of the emotions that drive our lives, producing a generation of people that can learn to work with these powerful forces rather than hide from them, pretend they don't exist, or be their passive recipients. By encouraging children to understand their emotions and take responsibility for themselves and their choices, they will eventually become the drivers of their own destinies and enjoy an increased sense of confidence, freedom, and empowerment. This gives them the most valuable reward of all: the opportunity to create a life they can love. Other books in The Bounce Back Series: Kindness Changes Everything addresses the serious issue of schoolyard bullying. It empowers children and provides them with the strategies they need to overcome adversity and be resilient when facing life's challenges. School Rush is designed to help children begin working with their emotions in a positive and healthy way. Instead of school mornings being filled with chaos, frustration and tension, they can be transformed into a time of warmth, fun and laughter, as family members help each other to leave the house on time. Kind Wordsis designed to help children address everyday school yard difficulties by equipping them with sound conflict resolution skills. Making Friends equips our young people with strategies they can use, should they find themselves alone in the schoolyard at play. Quietly Confident addresses the emotion of fear which unconsciously underpins many of our choices in life. By encouraging children to understand and face this emotion directly, they can enjoy an increased sense of confidence, freedom, and empowerment. Facing Fear explains that anger is often used to mask other emotions that are more difficult for us to feel, such as fear, shame or guilt. When children learn to accept and understand the underlying causes of anger, it has no need to arise. A Questing Game engages children's imaginations as they embark on an adventure that can only begin when they are tucked up in bed at night. Ever Felt Different? is a delightful tale for anyone who has ever felt different! The 8 Date Rule takes a comical look at dating. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationNicole Powell understands the importance of developing resilience and emotional strength in our young people, and brings what she has learned to her writing for children and parents. After many years of working with children, Nicole became concerned at the lack of emotional education received by our youth. Many seemed ill-equipped to skilfully negotiate everyday schoolyard conflicts, which resulted in them grappling with painful emotions such as sadness, fear, frustration and anger, with a very limited skill set and often alone. It became evident that children can carry this limited skill set into their adult years leaving them poorly equipped to deal with life's inevitable challenges. As a result, Nicole created The Bounce Back Series and Ever Felt Different? These books are designed to empower children and provide them with the strategies they need to overcome adversity and be resilient when facing life's challenges. They encourage children to cultivate a sense of kindness and forgiveness towards themselves and others, and to view mistakes simply as opportunities for learning. In order to achieve these goals, children need self-respect and respect for others. They also need to understand the emotions that drive their lives. They can then learn to work with these powerful forces rather than hide from them, pretend they don't exist, or be their passive recipients. By encouraging children to understand their emotions and take responsibility for themselves and their choices, they will eventually become the drivers of their own destinies and enjoy an increased sense of confidence, freedom, and empowerment. This gives them the most valuable reward of all: the opportunity to create a life they can love. Nicole has undergraduate qualifications in education and health sciences and has completed her post-graduate qualifications in family counselling. She is currently employed as a paramedic and a children's meditation teacher. She is also a wife and mother, foster carer, author and wildlife rescuer among other things. In her spare time she loves hiking and spending time in nature. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
