Merry Meet and Merry Part: a book of poems

Overview

The consequence of my three year exorcism is this: I have over three hundred common meter poems. This book was my companion; through aging and timing, luck and loss, hope and rage- all the happy tragedies of life and love. It is my guide through darker nights, and I hope it will encourage you to write your own. Merry Meet and Merry Part is a guide through times of transition, following a philosophical thread; reuniting hardship with stoicism, without losing care and joy. The author uses poetry to make sense of a traumatic ten year relationship, the divorce, banishment from shattered communities, isolation borne from broken friendships, horrible injuries, disability, surgeries- and then, recovery. The slow growing seed of a new, different life; armed with the will and wisdom to mend hope, protect herself, and love again. 'Be still. A heart cannot heal fast. Observe mine shifting hands. A changing mind whose growth will last, Must swim a tide of sands.' My poems await, perched in the trees, Foul-feathered, patience gone. They roost on branches, brave the breeze, But dare not fly til dawn. Here are all nine themed chapbooks all at once, a poetry avalanche, bound into a single volume, to help you wind your way through your own dark woods. if merry meet and merry part, I'll sing our song till then. if we can linger in these woods, I'll never leave again. Without further ado, welcome to my little book of poems. Merry meet! ♥︎ To learn more about the author and view special editions, please visit: www.aimeewoodworks.co

Reviews

"""I received and read the book today, I couldn't put it down once I started. These poems are devastating and beautiful, both painfully and wonderfully familiar. To think that Aimee ever doubted her talent is absolute insanity after reading this, but I also know that we all look at our art with artist's eyes, and we'll always yearn for better even when others say we are the best. To say I love these poems is an understatement. If I'm ever to teach poetry as I hope I may, this book will certainly be a tool for my students so they can both learn from it and love it too. Well done,"" -- KT"

Author Information

Aimee grew up in the high rockies of Colorado, and intimately knows how those summits and valleys reflect in the highs and lows of life. Her poetry centers the common meter, and her first book of poems transforms a series of personal tragedies into a hopeful ballad; her prose lighting a path through life's darkened woods.
