'Meet the Jolly Jangles' is the first in a series of books that introduces children to the world of make believe and rhyme. The author has created the twelve teddy bears using her crochet hook, thereby giving them each a personality of their own, and children will love meeting them. The backdrop where the teddy bears are placed is vibrant, lively, and arresting and gives a good pace and movement to the rhymes. Each teddy has a question to ask to encourage children to participate in their story. Just received my jolly jangles book . It's so colourful and all the different characters are great and cute . It's so lovely to finally have a children's book that rhymes . Very nice easy read, it captivates you . Never mind my daughter enjoying it I didn't want to put it down! Can't wait to see more books like this from this particular childrens writer A delightful book, filled with magic. Each bear in the Jolly Jangle family has its own personality - I loved learning about their special magic powers. Children of all ages are sure to have a favourite bear. Mine's Podge - who's your favourite? I bought this book so I could read to my future grandaughter. I read it initially and found it very well illustrated, it is beautifully coloured with large characters, childlike magic and Rei loved it as she pointed out all the objects she knew, waving her arms with joy. I would recommend this book for young children; the Jolly Jangles are so friendly and teach sharing and caring as they come alive in the mind of the child who is reading it and even the parent reading to the child!!

Author Information

Marilyn Cook grew up on the Wirral in Cheshire and has happy memories of long sunny days playing in the park or at the beach with her four sisters and three brothers. Being one of eight children she learnt the importance of family and sharing. Being the second in line she also learnt how to help to look after her siblings and to help with their homework, to show them the importance of education but also how to have fun whilst learning. Marilyn now lives with her husband Michael in the beautiful green valleys of South Wales where her first crocheted teddy bear was created. It was a suggestion from Steve, one of her brothers, that she make a family of teddy bears and write a children's book about them. It didn't take long for Marilyn's imagination to take off and so the adventures of her cute little teddy bears started taking shape and the Jolly Jangles were born. Marilyn also has a love of poetry, photography and graphic design. All illustrations in the Jolly Jangles book are designed by Marilyn using the wonderful photographs that Michael took of the teddy bears and the background pictures that she took. She has written all of the poetry in the book too. She has an amazing daughter called Chloe who has helped her with all of the marketing of these wonderful Jolly Jangles. It is truly a family affair. Marilyn enjoys making greetings cards and gets involved in many other craft projects.
