Overview

This is the true story of a homeless, frightened, paranoid schitzophrenic, hitch hiking woman, back in 1984. The story takes place in Nova Scotia Canada. John Baker could hardly keep his eyes open after working all night in Fredericton New Brunswick, on a film, then attempting to drive back to Halifax without any sleep for more than 24 hours. So, when he saw someone hitch hiking, he pulled over to pick them up. He figured that having someone to talk to would help him to stay awake while driving back to Halifax. He didn't even know that it was a woman until he stopped and backed up to the hitch hiker. Of course, when she discovered that John had been working on a film, she had to tell him that she used to be a famous movie star. But, when she found out that his name was John Baker, then she had to tell her story about her life as a Baker. She claimed, very convincingly, to be Norma Jeane Baker, a.k.a. Marilyn Monroe. She told him that she spent over twenty years in a mental institution in New Brunswick, and when the money stopped coming in for her care, she was forced to leave. So, she started hitch hiking and got rides with mostly truckers. She became known, in some places as, Suitcase Annie, and other places as 401 Annie. She looked amazingly, like Marilyn Monroe, with a few years added on. She sang just like Marilyn Monroe and she seemed to know everything about Marilyn Monroe's life. She talked about her life as Marilyn as though she was just reminiscing. The more research I did after this encounter, the more convinced I was that it could really have been her. But, who would believe a paranoid schitzophrenic's tale of once being a very famous movie star who was supposed to have committed suicide in 1962. I pride myself for being open-minded, so even if I believe something to be true, I will always be open to new information that comes to light. That being said, I believe 99% that she really was who she claimed to be, Norma Jeane Baker A.K.A. Marilyn Monroe.
