Overview

The 1988 Education Reform Act led to new form of school management. This book studies the management of schools as they respond to new imperatives. It examines the responsibilities of teachers, head teachers and principals as they shape and execute their management plan and, against the background of a compulsory National Curriculum, examines the management of the diverse pressures within the curriculum itself. It investigates every aspect of management - time, money, staff training, reporting to governors and parents. The study takes into account the author's own experiences as well as new practice. It is aimed at undergraduates, school teachers and educational organizations and should be especially useful as a main text for teachers taking second degrees (such as MEd) or on in-service programmes; officers and advisers organizing training courses for managing the requirements of the Education Act.
