Overview

The construction sector, although fundamental to the national economy, is recognized as a major generator of environmental impacts due to the unrestrained use of natural resources and the significant production of waste. The book highlights the recycling plant in the city of Betim-MG, managed by ECOS, as an example of sustainability, converting large volumes of rubble into useful raw materials for the city. Through a case study carried out at the Construction Solid Waste Recycling Plant - RSCD in the Municipality of Betim, located in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. The search was organized in the form of articles, addressing different aspects related to RSCD. The chapters include a systematic review of alternatives to reduce the environmental impacts of RSCD, an analysis of construction waste management in Betim, an assessment of the current scenario of the recycling plant from a financial, environmental and social perspective, the theoretical generation potential of recyclables in the selective collection of RSCD and finally a technical manual for the management of public RSCD recycling plants.
