Author InformationJUDAH FREED is an author, journalist, speaker, educator, and consultant. A journalist since 1976, starting at Denver newspapers, he mainly wrote for the top U.S. and European media trade magazines, pioneering industry press coverage of the internet, interactive digital TV, distance learning, and new media social effects. His work in the 1990s drew invitations to speak on four continents. He holds a double BA in journalism and communication from the University Without Walls at Loretto Heights College (Regis) with independent graduate research in communication at Antioch. He serves on the American Society of Journalists and Authors' First Amendment Committee. Judah is a cancer survivor, active in the men's movement, works as a publishing consultant, and lives in Colorado. THOMAS PAINE (1737-1809), an English-born writer and activist, is renown for his 1776 essay, Common Sense, a pivotal call for American independence and democracy. Paine's ideas were influenced by Locke, Burke, Voltaire, Rousseau, Hume, and related philosophes in the social movement called The Enlightenment.
