OverviewThis book is a photographic snapshot of some London Metropolitan Police Stations as they stand at a time of great change in the police force and society in general. Many of the police stations have functioned for over one hundred years on our high streets and have been an accepted face of policing, but they have been almost silently closed piecemeal within the last few years. Some have been demolished and others converted into other usage, such as public houses, shops and flats. The photographs in the book are accompanied by a brief history of the station and other interesting pieces of information relevant to these important symbols and institutions.
