Overview

"This collection of materials is the companion volume to the corresponding ""LLB Learning Text"". Used together, they provide a learning programme which enables students to learn the subject at their own pace and in their own time. More importantly, the cases and materials on their own are a portable library, allowing the student to concentrate his or her energies on researching and understanding difficult legal points. The materials have been extracted and is presented in the same order as it is dealt with in the ""LLB Learning Text"". This enables the student to analyze the material and understand the way in which it complements and expands upon the guidance give by the ""Learning Text"". Answers to the end-of-chapter assessment questions in the corresponding ""Learning Text"" are found in these ""Cases and Materials"" volumes. Like its companion volume, this volume covers the major areas of institutional and substantive law of the European Community. It contains extracts from the Treaty of Rome, the Single European Act, the Treaty on European Union and from Community secondary legislation. The authors have also included extracts from a considerable number of cases, including the recent decision in ""Factortame III"" and from the writings of academic commentators. Many of these extracts are extensive and should assist the student with guidance from the corresponding ""Learning Text"", to acquire and enhance essential analytical skills. At the same time, this useful resource should help students develop a degree of understanding of European Community law which can only be achieved through the study of primary source materials."
