He built great fort reeses to protect his kingdom, and he reorganized his army; but these were in the interests of peace rather than war. His kingdom was strong, compact and well organized, occupying the central position in the Eastern World. He took advantage of his strength and position in his dealings with neighboring nations. He was a diplomat and made treaties of alliance with his neighbors. When he made a treaty with a foreign king, he would cement the treaty by marrying his daughter. This accounts for the size of his harem. In the East, a king showed his wealth and power by marrying many wives.
