Language: English, Middle (1100-1500) Table of ContentsReviews"There are far too few choices out there when it comes to origin stories for single mom's by choice and their donor-conceived children - but this is one of the best. It is a lovely story about Natalie's quest to find her treasure and how, once she realizes she really longs for a child, she gets help from a doctor and a kind donor and ultimately has her baby. Unlike some other problematic books, there is no mention of the heroine being sad/missing a man in her life. Also - my edition at least does not mention 'father' as some reviews said - but uses the term 'donor'. The 'technical' details of conception are not very technical and while a bit silly they are also kind of funny and I can live with it, even if I may have to evolve the description of conception as my daughter gets older. (the egg rejects the first sperm and it takes months to find an especially cute and determined sperm that the egg likes - described with illustrations reminiscent of courtship. My daughter now says that to make a baby, you have to have an egg and a sperm and then they dance and become a baby.). All in all - the best book I've found on this topic and my daughter loves it. Tinekc LITTLE TREASURE makes the explanation of conception, birth and family accessible to the little ones while providing a guide for parents to discuss 'where we came from' with offspring. A true pleasure of a book by a sensitive and talented writer. Recommended. Grady Harp I thought this was cute. I am going to keep reading it to my pre-school-aged son so he understands his ""story"" of conception. Good for single mothers by choice! I'm a journalist and the proud and happy mother of Eli. I was born in 1968 in Ashdod, a sunny port town in Israel. I started writing at a very young age, and fulfilled my dream of becoming a journalist after finishing my second degree in university. My children's books deal with things that I believe are pivotal in every child and family's life: knowing where they come from, and where and how they belong with their beloved ones. ""Little Treasure"" came to be when I looked at my baby boy, Eli, and wondered what and how should I tell him about the way he came to the world. I knew that I wanted to do this in the most honest and loving way. When Eli grew up, I got through him insight to a little boy's inner life, and so ""Shushu's Families"" was born: a quest full of encounters with families of all sorts. I try not to educate, but to show, respect and appreciate the differences and challenges that children see in life around them." Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
