OverviewLexicon Latinitatis Nederlandicae Medii Aevi was established as part of an international project by European countries, each of which was to prepare its own dictionary of Medieval Latin based on its national authors and sources. First published in 63 fascicles between 1971 and 2005, it is first major such dictionary to be completed and is now available as a set of 8 bound volumes and supplement, in all 5300 pages and some 50,000 entries. It is a research tool of inestimable, provides to historians, intellectual historians and philologists the range of meanings of words, of how writers of a particular time and place used a certain word, and a better understanding of the authors whose works they are reading.
