She studied English and Drama at university, and worked in theatre for many years. She loved teaching, so became an Expressive Arts lecturer in Further Education, specialising in teaching people with disabilities. She joined the Scottish Storytelling Directory in 2007, and gained a Masters degree in Scottish Folklore from Glasgow University in 2012. She lives in Lanark.
