Author Information

Currently employed as the social historian for the RNZAF, Bee Dawson combines her work on military matters with a strong interest in gardens, plants and pioneer women. Her other books include: Lady Travellers, the Tourists of Early New Zealand; High Flyers, Celebrating the Extraordinary Women of the RNZAF 1977-2002 and Spreading their Wings, New Zealand WAAFs in Wartime. A former psychologist with the Royal New Zealand Air Force, Bee lives with her husband, two teenage children and one small white dog on a windswept hill above Wellington Harbour. Penelope Hobhouse is internationally known and respected as a garden designer, writer and gardener. Her many books include Colour in Your Garden, Garden Style, Plants in Garden History, Penelope Hobhouse's Garden Designs and Penelope Hobhouse on Gardening. Penelope is an associate editor of Gardens Illustrated, contributes regularly to gardening columns and periodicals, and lectures widely in Britain, Europe and the United States.
