OverviewThis book is all about decoding social media communication. If we want to communicate, whether it be formal or informal, we need to have a sender and a receiver. Yes, this is generic and basic. But after deeply analysing it, I understood that we need a medium to communicate. Think of there being no internet or social media. Even though we have so many senders and receivers who want to communicate, we are unable to connect them. As we needed a medium to do this, social media became the global medium. So, indeed, we need a medium; without the medium, the message is not going to get transferred. The simplest example of a medium is the air that we breathe. So, when we are communicating with our friends in a room, we need air to communicate. When we speak, our vocal cords vibrate, which generates sound waves and transmits the energy into the air, and this compression and rarefaction of waves get carried forward. We have already studied in our science classes back in school that sound is a longitudinal wave. So now the compression and rarefaction of the sound reach the eardrum of the receiver and vibrate it to generate the sound. We have developed English as a language medium. So if both sender and receiver are familiar with the language, the sound can be encoded and decoded to be understood. But what if someone speaks a foreign language? Then, even though the sender shares the messages, the receiver is unable to understand the message shared via the medium. Also, what comes in as more important is the grammar of the language. If the grammar is accurate, . The message can be easily understood. In my previous book, Content Creation for Social Media, we talked in detail about what content is, ideas, its creation, user-generated content, and many more. Volume 2 of that book also talks about the same in detail. But in this book, my focus is to understand the language of social media, production, editing, and its psychological impact. If you can decode the medium and its language you can win the psychological battles of the medium. Then you can be a creator rather than being an endless scroll consumer.
