Author Information

Dr. Mungai Mutonya is a Teaching Professor of Swahili and African Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. Mutonya obtained his B.A. (Hons) in Swahili and African Linguistics from the University of Nairobi and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Linguistics from Michigan State University. He has extensive experience teaching in all three universities. He has published sociolinguistic research, Swahili plays, short stories, and novellas, and co-founded and directs the Nairobi Language Mapping Project.
