Finally, a sane Biblical examination of the role of the apostolic and prophetic written by Pentecostal authors. This book is a gift to the charismatic and Spirit-filled community, as well as providing others keen insight into the contemporary functioning of these vital elements of ministry. Dr. George O. Wood Chairman, World AG Fellowship Few things are less understood in the western church than apostolic and prophetic functioning. That is why KEYS TO THE APOSTOLIC AND PROPHETIC is such an insightful and practical guide. My friends, Dr. Carolyn Tennant and Dr. Joe Girdler, have charted a path forward for the recovery of the full work of God's Spirit in his church today. This book both inspires and instructs, while avoiding the many excesses and pitfalls that have complicated these issues for so many. I highly recommend it! Dr. James Bradford Lead Pastor, Central Assembly of God, Springfield, MO The need is great for solid, biblical clarity on the important issue of the apostolic and prophetic in our day in both academia and the ministry field. I'm thankful for the scholarly and practical approach taken by these two very capable authors - Assemblies of God scholars - to give Pentecostal leaders the biblical guidance and tools of wisdom for a healthy path forward. Donna Barrett, General Secretary, Assemblies of God USA Dr. Carolyn Tennant has been a leading voice in the Pentecostal movement for several decades. Together with co-author Dr. Joe Girdler, their experience & depth as theologians and practitioners make this book on the apostolic & prophetic gifts a must read. For those hungry for the Holy Spirit, this book will have a profound impact and provide a Scriptural basis for understanding these powerful gifts given to the Church. Mark Dean District Superintendent, Minnesota Assemblies of God This book is a long overdue resource to the Body of Christ and, more specifically, to the Pentecostal/Charismatic community. Our failure to properly define the apostolic and prophetic has weakened the Church by neglecting the primacy of these all-important offices. This resource provides clarity and balance on a thoroughly Scriptural and Spirit-empowered platform. Mark Merrill, D.Min. District Superintendent, Georgia Assemblies of God As rare scholar-practitioners who illustrate in quotidian life the apostolic and the prophetic, Drs. Girdler and Tennant provide a full and richly textured master class in these vital elements of Spirit-led Christianity for today's church. Joseph Castleberry, Ed.D., President, Northwest University Orthodoxy and orthopraxy meet as the authors approach the muddied role and scope of the apostolic and prophetic functions in the church today. The authors' knowledge of Scripture and extensive ministry experience translates into a clear and concise yet profound and relevant book. It is enriching for anyone called to these functions or striving to deepen their understanding of Scripture as it relates to the life of the church. I found it hard to stop reading. I strongly recommend this book. Armin Col n International Ministries Pastor, Oak Creek Assembly of God, Milwaukee, WI
