OverviewKai and Senzo may have had to homeschool due to the Covid pandemic, but that has not stopped their adventures. When they go out for a peaceful day of fishing and bird watching on the Chobe River with Bongani's best friend, Nathaniel, all goes terribly wrong. They have no idea that their peaceful on the river will turn into one of their biggest adventures yet. From poachers trying to block the river to crocodiles taking things into their own hands, how can Kai convince everyone to work together to stop the poaching of all animals. All this leads to a night drive through the Chobe National Park where Kai meets Haka, the most trafficked animal in the world - a pangolin and learns how much needs to be done globally to stop the trafficking before it is too late. This first book of a highly anticipated series written for young readers ages 9-12, is an exciting introduction to the adventurous life of a talented young girl, Kai. Kai has been blessed with the unique ability to speak with animals. Book 1 takes Kai to Africa, where the reader is offered important insight into the negative impact that man has on some of the wild animals living on that continent, and how compassion for and understanding of these targeted animals can help save their lives. Book 2 doesn't stray from the theme. Both are a captivating and educational read. One cannot but be moved by the positive impact that a kind and gifted child can have on animals and the environment. I strongly believe in the message of The Life of Kai series, that of bringing awareness to and educating our youth, in whose hands lies the answer to saving animals' lives worldwide. The Life of Kai books series should, in my opinion as a former educator and lifelong animal advocate, be mandatory reading in all elementary schools around the world.
