Author Information

Pie Corbett, educationalist and author, is well-known for his books on teaching creative writing, as well as many other educational books, schemes and anthologies. Pie writes widely in the educational press, provides training nationally and works as a poet and storyteller in schools. He has written over 200 books, and has worked extensively in schools, as teacher, head teacher and ofsted inspector. Some of his bestselling titles include: Jumpstart Literacy Jumpstart Storymaking Jumpstart Poetry How to Teach Storywriting 4-7 How to Teach Fiction Writing 8-12 David Mitchell is Deputy Headteacher of Heathfield Primary school in Bolton. He is author of the asksir blog, and is a regular presenter at the BETT annual conference. He has explored the educational benefits of blogs and other forms of ICT extensively within his own school as well as using technology to network with other schools both locally and nationally. One Year 6 blog has just exceeded 500,000 hits. Following this article appearing in the Independent newspaper in February 2011 which describes the school's blogging activities with relation to boys literacy http://www.independent.co.uk/news/education/education-news/blog-early-blog-often-the-secret-to-making-boys-write-properly-2211232.html both he and the school were subsequently featured on BBC Breakfast News, Radio 4 and Channel 4 news.
