Overview

Have you wondered what makes a Montessori education so special? Are you looking to introduce the Montessori methods to your child? Do you want to reinforce Montessori principles with your classroom or school? Let Jack show you the ropes! Jack Goes to Montessori School allows the reader to follow friendly, spirited Jack through a day in his Montessori primary classroom. There's circle time and Montessori work time (including the famous sandpaper letters, pink tower, and math bead bars), playground fun and lunch time. After a nap, Jack helps with classroom chores and learns to solve problems using the traditional Peace Flower. Throughout Jack's day, the Montessori ideas of respect, independence and collaboration, curiosity, and kindness are reinforced by Jack, his teachers, and his classmates. Jack's story is a child-friendly introduction to the Montessori learning methods, the structure of a Montessori classroom, and the excitement a Montessori student feels to be in engaged in his own learning. The inviting and thoughtful illustrations -- created by a certified Montessori teacher -- will delight children, parents, and teachers alike!

Author Information

Author Allyson Collins is an attorney and Montessori Mom who lives with her family (including one precocious redhead) in Austin, Texas. After first being introduced to the Montessori educational philosophy, Allyson was inspired to bring Jack's story to life in order to help other parents and children learn what makes the Montessori experience special. Illustrator Lindsey R. Smith (aka LRSmith ART) is a native Texan who has always had a passion for art and teaching. She began drawing comics as a child and is now a selling artist in the heart of Texas. Not only is Lindsey passionate about art, but she is a certified Montessori Teacher, as well as an Art Teacher for young children, and holds the Montessori philosophy dear to her heart. The children are her inspiration, so she is happy to share with you her illustrations of the joy and happiness found within a Montessori child.
