Overview

In the wee hours of 15 January 1966, a nation begins a journey into the unknown when a group of officers kidnap the nation's PM (Prime Minister). As the story unfolds, different factions seek to impose their will on others through 'the barrel of a gun'. A Series of Extraordinary Meetings (ASEM) is a four-part series - a quadlogy. Part 1, titled: Iron Sharpens Iron, focuses on the two days in January 1966 when a fatal power tussle ensued due to the vacuum created by the missing PM. In the mould of thrillers such as JFK and Operation Valkyrie, Iron Sharpens Iron lays bare the power play, intrigue and incisive timing that is crucial to the success of one group usurping another with extreme violence. Iron Sharpens Iron starts as a search for the PM and continues as a quest by a nation to claim its soul. It returns us to the point where events could have taken a different course to avert the harrowing tales evoked in Half of a Yellow Sun.
