OverviewGlacier Bay National Park and Preserve (GLBA) is located west of the Alaska state capital, Juneau, and comprises 3.28 million acres of Southeast Alaska. Invasive species are one of the greatest threats to the pristine glory of Alaska's national parks. A focus in 2011 and in future years will be to increase monitoring of infestations in the most isolated and recently deglaciated locations in the Park and enhance the control efforts in those areas. The Alaska Exotic Plant Management Team (EPMT) in GLBA has been working to prevent the introduction and spread of invasive plant species and to monitor the presence of invasive animal species as well. These efforts are detailed in this work.
