Reviews

Ivey and Ibrahim provide us with a unique contribution to the expanding group work literature that brilliantly forges new ground. It will fill an existing gap through its focus on precise leadership skills set within a clear framework that integrates group work best practices with multicultural sensitivities. This book will be inherently valuable to practitioners and to faculty of group work training programs alike, by offering informed direction that is urgently needed to deliver comprehensive group work skills that respect and capture multicultural differences. -Robert K. Conyne, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, University of Cincinnati, Licensed Psychologist and Licensed Clinical Counselor, President, Charting Your Personal Future With the notions of intentionality, cultural competence, and social justice foregrounded, this text is a phenomenal resource. Ibrahim and her colleagues masterfully integrate microskills, the group process, and issues of culture and social justice throughout the text. Moreover, by giving the reader the tools to put their learning into action, theory and practice are blended to enhance understanding of group concepts and interventions. -Carlos P. Hipolito-Delgado, Associate Professor, University of Colorado Denver, School of Education and Human Development Counseling
