Reviews

These meditations are fresh and savvy, deeply revealing of the human condition and full of quiet surprises that delight the reader. Fascinating! --Cornelius Plantinga Jr., president emeritus, Calvin Theological Seminary What a wonderful idea: take a short passage from a literary work, compose a brief meditation on the theme of the passage, and conclude with a text from Scripture that encapsulates the meditation. . . . Knol and Karsten bring it off with deftness, grace, empathy, and insight. It's a treasure. --Nicholas Wolterstorff, senior research fellow, Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture, Yale University This book is spun out of the long-practiced craft of making connections. It emerges from years invested in connecting the spy holes into the world provided by literature, the anchor points offered by Scripture, and the need of learners of all ages for fresh glimpses of the horizon. You will find in it a web of compassion and insight that might just tingle your truth receptors and leave you newly centered. --David Smith, director, Kuyers Institute for Christian Teaching and Learning, Calvin University This book offers you intimate conversations with classic literary figures that will remind you of the wisest questions to ask yourself. It belongs on every nightstand. --Kristin Meekhof, co-author of A Widow's Guide to Healing
