Inside the Mind: Understanding and Communicating with Those Who Have Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Social Communication Disorder, or ADD is unique, amazing and much needed. It is so packed with information that it is more useful than anything else available. Ann Steel, MD psychotherapist who works with high functioning autistic clients. In reading Inside the Mind, I have realized that the way I think is very different from others. This book has provided me with the words to explain these differences to my wife and family, so that they can start to understand me better. My wife has been frustrated with me for years and thought I was doing things on purpose to her that seemed rude. Also, when I did not answer her right away, she assumed I didn't care. With her understanding of IRI, she now realizes that there is a reason for what I am doing, and I have not intentionally been hurtful to her. She has been able to become more patient for me to process information and respond to her. I have also been able to gain the confidence to ask her to explain to me what she thinks are obvious and simple social cues so that I can be more socially appropriate. For those who have Inductive Reasoning issues or have family members with it, this book will go a long way to helping explain the world of Inductive Reasoning.
