Drache (1924-2020) served in the US Air Force as a combat navigator on bombing missions in the European Theater of Operations of World War II. He then earned degrees at Gustavus Adolphus College, the University of Minnesota, and the University of North Dakota. In 1991, Drache became Historian in Residence at Concordia College. He contributed to several books and wrote more than fifty articles, chiefly on contemporary agriculture and/or agricultural history, leading to a speaking career with over one thousand engagements in thirty-six US states, Canada, Australia, Germany, and Norway. Bruce Gjovig is CEO Emeritus, entrepreneur coach, and founder of the UND Center for Innovation Foundation, a program focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, private investment, and the entrepreneur ecosystem. Launched in 1984, under his leadership the Foundation became one of the premier venture development organizations in the world. In 2008, Gjovig was presented with the Knight of the First Class, Royal Norwegian Order of Merit by HM King Harald V of Norway.
