OverviewOffot people are mainly found in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, created on 23 September, 1987 by the federal military government of Nigeria. As a geographical entity, Offot is a clan in Uyo Local Government Area. The work documents the origin, migration and settlement of Offot clan. This study found out that the economic activities of the Offot people were very unique and the impact of such activities on the political, social and central development of the area are equally discussed. It also discussed the Akpan Andem market which is the major market in the Offot community and its impacts to the development of the area.The study also found out that the people of Offot clan in post-independent era were predominantly farmers; others took to trading, fishing, hunting and manufacturing. Farming enhanced the sustenance of the people. Conclusively, the study also shows that intergroup was promoted and this enhanced political and economic development of the area.
