Author Information

Dr. S. Utham Kumar Jamadhagni is Professor and Chair, Department (Dept.) of Defence and Strategic Studies, University of Madras. Apart from a doctorate in Defence & Strategic Studies, he also holds a post graduate degree in Political Science. Further, he has an Advanced International Diploma from the Dept. of Peace and Conflict Research at the University of Uppsala in Sweden. He is also an Alumnus of the Regional Centre for Strategic Studies, Colombo and Salzburg seminar. Dr. Utham earlier led an Indian Youth Delegation to Japan on invitation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan. He was also an Australia-India Council Fellow, and an International Visitor Fellow of the Dept. of State, United States of America. He regularly addresses military institutions in India on Strategic Studies-related topics. He is on academic boards of various universities. He contributes journal articles and book chapters on National security issues especially maritime at the national and international levels as well.
