OverviewThe main objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of development, dispossession, and conflict on the Mursi community in southwest Ethiopia's Omo Kuraz Sugar Development Project. The researcher used a qualitative research methodology to accomplish this with the help of four distinct objectives and related research questions. Some data collection techniques were focus groups, semi-structured interviews, and observations. A thematic analysis was conducted on primary and secondary data after data collection. The study highlights that these projects improve infrastructure for the community and create economic opportunities for residents in the project area. It also highlights that the government initially provides some social infrastructure for the community. The study also finds how the Mursi community continues to have their human and constitutional rights violated as they are forcibly removed from their ancestral lands by the former Ethiopian government (EPRDF).
