OverviewThe author was born with a thousand and one fears. Eventually, these fears transformed into an anxiety disorder with panic attacks. The long road she followed in a treatment program didn't result in improvement. When her two children were born with the same problem, she became sure that her problems were hereditary and a misunderstood disability. By sharing her story, she hopes to gain the understanding of people who have been quick to judge her. She also hopes to be a support for those who recognize themselves in the story. Patricia Coppes was born in 1964 in Hillegom. When she became ill during puberty, she could not complete her secondary school. She began writing poems about herself and the misunderstood disease that plagued her. In 1993, she married and moved 140 miles away to a village near Zwolle. She had two children, a daughter and a son.
